Casino Betting Strategies

January 14th, 2011 · No comments

Casino betting is a fun, exciting, and often lucrative pastime. Millions of people enjoy laying down a wager on various games or sporting events, most lose, but every now and then they end up hitting the big win… and it’s that big win that keeps them coming for more. Statistically speaking any casino betting is going to result in losing money. The ugly truth is, the house always wins. However, there are some casino betting strategies that can increase your odds of winning in the long run.

Set Aside a Bankroll

First and foremost, you should have money set aside for you casino betting. If you’re depending on the money you are wagering to pay the rent or buy groceries for the month, you are going to take all the fun out of gambling. Gambling is supposed to be fun, not leave you homeless and hungry. So have a bankroll set up for your gambling that you can stand to lose.

Have a System

Set up a system and play the odds. If you’re betting on a game in which odds can be calculated like playing poker at internet poker sites, or counting cards in blackjack, then know your game and know the odds. When the odds turn to your favor, raise your bets and rake in the money. When they fall against you, protect your money. Games like roulette where the odds are always the same with every spin are a little more risky, but there are ways to increase your odds of making money with those games as well.

The Martingale system is a logical casino betting strategy. You place a bet, if you lose, you double up on the next bet. Eventually you are bound to win, and when you do, you will make up for your losses and win what you would have originally won on the first bet you made. This is most often used on blackjack and roulette tables, and is especially effective with blackjack if you are counting cards. The downside is that most tables have a betting limit. So after a certain point, you simply can’t raise your bets any higher. This puts you in the position of having to keep your bets high in an effort to win back your losses, but this is a bad idea because, as we’ve already covered, the house always wins.

Remember, betting is supposed to be fun. This can’t be stressed enough. If you are not having fun with your casino betting, you should take a break. Getting upset is only going to lead to making bad decisions and losing even more money. Enjoy yourself!
